Racing into Hearts & Homes!
Going Grey Retired Racing Greyhound Adoptions Inc. is a 501(c) (3) non profit greyhound adoption organization located in the Richmond, VA metro area. Our goal is simple - to find loving, qualified homes for our prison trained retired racing greyhounds.
Our adoptable greyhounds are graduates from the 2nd Chance at Life Greyhound Prison Program which pairs retired racing greyhounds and inmates together for a win-win partnership.
The greyhounds spend 10 weeks in a Florida womens correctional facility with specially trained handlers. During this time, the greyhounds are socialized with a variety of people and they learn about the world outside the race track environment. At the end of the 10 weeks, the greyhounds are crate trained, housebroken, obedience trained and ready for their forever families!
The benefits for the inmates include learning new life skills, giving back to the community through their service to the greyhounds and experiencing unconditional love from the dogs.
We do not have greyhounds in foster homes at this time. The preference is to have the greyhounds leave the prison training program and go directly to their new homes.

From 2nd Chance's website:
"We use prison inmates that have now made greyhound training their life's work. We have sent in our professional greyhound trainers and stayed with them until they were competent in all aspects of retired greyhound adoption needs. They are now experts in greyhound training. It gives them a reason to live. A sense of purpose and an unconditional love that is impossible to obtain in prison. These retired greyhounds are their lives. They are with and training their retired greyhound 24/7. They want the retired greyhound that they are training to be the best of the best. A quote from one of our best trainers. "I look at my retired greyhound as my child. What I teach him will go with him through life. He will represent the love that I have given him everywhere he goes."
